“The Knave of Knives – The Duchess of Dawn” is at once dreamlike, unsettling, and absurd, with two strange and haunting figures from an Otherworldly Court who engage in a fantastical struggle for power over the multiverse. Taking place in an immersive installation surrounding both stage and audience, the show is performed with movement and music/sound, and is inspired (loosely!) by string theory, carnival claw machines, tarot card characters, Martha Graham, the film Metropolis, creation and destruction myths, Mike Kelly plush installations, string theory, dark matter and dark energy, genuflections and prostrations, silent film, the Flaming Lips’ Christmas on Mars album…and traces the fragile threads of a clandestine karmic history in an effort to find balance and justice in the cosmos.
