The Neighborhood Garage Tour is scheduled for four weekends this September, generally Fridays and Saturdays. The Annual Neighborhood Garage Tour is Off-Leash Area's grass-roots, community-building program that each fall brings professional, family friendly contemporary dance & theater directly into neighborhoods across the Twin Cities & 7-county area. Off-Leash Area is a multi-award winning dance & theater company that creates exclusively original work, and has been producing in Minneapolis for the past 26 years.
The Neighborhood Garage Tour is a unique and fun community arts program, providing access to contemporary arts, and overcoming barriers of geography, time, and cost to reach Minnesotans in their own neighborhoods. Now in its 10th year, it is our most popular program.
Additionally, Off-Leash Area embraces an all-abilities approach to performance making and presenting, forwarding a belief that all bodies should be seen on stage. Access services are offered throughout the company’s programs and productions.
Job Description: In short, the Neighborhood Garage Tour Technical Director is responsible for supervising a crew of 2 in the loading/unloading, set-up and break-down of the set, stage, lighting, and seating at the 4 locations on the Tour. The TD also participates in these set-up, break-down, and loading duties. Additionally, the TD operates the lighting/sound/projection board for the performances.
Compensation $2100
Schedule 4 weekends in September (generally Fri/Sat) First day - approx. 11am – 8:30pm Second day – approx. 6pm – 9:30pm
Duties & Responsibilities
Lighting Design (we are using last year’s design)
Floorplans/Locations – create detailed floorplans of each location, be thoroughly aware of each location’s unique physical attributes as relates to the physical aspect of the production (set, stage, seating)
Communication – communicate with OLA staff and homeowner/hosts
Supervision – supervise 2 additional set-up crew who load/unload, set-up and break-down set and seating
Lighting/sound install –set-up, focus lighting & sound rig, projectors (aided by 1 of the 2 crew)
Operation – program Qlab, run a laptop with lighting, sound, and projection cues

Crew/Set-Up Job Description: Members of our Set-Up Crew play an essential role in the successful execution of this program. Responsibilities include loading and unloading equipment, setting up stage platforms, and ensuring all logistical aspects of the event are handled efficiently. The Set-Up Crew works with and under the direction of our Technical Director, and the Artistic Directors of the company.
Compensation - Schedule Compensation: $800.00 Hours: 8 per weekend Schedule: Fridays approx. 11:30am to 5:30pm, Saturdays approx. 8:30pm to 11:00pm*
Fridays: The Crew Set-Up person will meet the other 2 crew members at the storage location, load and unload the truck, and set up the stage and seating.
Saturdays: The Crew Set-Up person will meet at the location at the end of the performance, and with the other 2 crew will dismantle and store the set/lighting/seating/etc at that location, ready for pick up the next week.

General Requirements: - Ability to work with others, take direction, and be self-directed - Ability to work positively and communicate cordially with many different types of people - Ability to lift heavy objects - Background in the performing arts preferred

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Crew/Set-Up/BoxOffice - THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED Job Description: Members of our Set-Up Crew play an essential role in the successful execution of this program. Responsibilities include loading and unloading equipment, setting up stage platforms, and ensuring all logistical aspects of the event are handled efficiently. The Set-Up Crew works with and under the direction of our Technical Director, and the Artistic Directors of the company. Compensation - Schedule Compensation: $1,500.00 Hours: 15 per weekend, 4 weekends Schedule: Fridays approx. 11am to 9:30pm, Saturdays approx. 6pm to 11pm*
Fridays: The Crew-Box Office person will pick up and drive a 15’ UHaul truck, then work with 2 others to load and unload the truck, and set up the stage and seating at the location. Once set up, the Crew-Box Office person will switch gears and act as the Box Office attendant for that evening’s performance. There will be a short break, and a dinner break. The Crew-BoxOffice will return the UHaul truck at the end of the evening.
Saturdays: The Crew-Box Office person will go to the location, serve as Box Office attendant, and then with the other crew members, dismantle and store the set/lighting/seating/etc at that location, ready for pick up the next week.
