| THE SUNRISE CAFE
(2002, 2003) It's 1975. Lost among the dusty highways of the American West, four lonely souls collide at the Sunrise Cafe while on their way towards an American Dream: Ginny Lee a home fried waitress in search of a better life; The Trucker, a down-to-earth man on a spiritual quest; The Chef, a short order cook with a dangerous past; and The Mysterious Stranger. Using images created through movement & choreography, drawings and paintings cast as theatrical devices, lush atmospheric scores of sound and music, and texts drawn from a variety of non-traditional sources, off-leash area surrounds the audience in a desert landscape of cactuses and skulls, weird sounds, wild hallucinations, and peculiar characters that are strangely familiar... and just plain strange. |
