Performed in Our Garage
Le Squat is based on OLA co-artistic director Paul Herwig’s experience living in an abandoned building on the southern periphery of Paris in 1983, sharing the space with an international “tribe” of artists, winos, and madmen far from the Eiffel Towers of civilized life. Presenting the abandoned building itself as a metaphor for a life and what you make of it, the show is a free-form work of visual theatre, a collage of characters and atmospheres with minimal text drawn from the writings of the squat artists themselves – all on the intimate fifteen-square-foot stage of Our Garage.
