Crimes & Whispers (2006)

Performed at Jawahiir Dance Studio

Winner of an Outstanding Choreography 2006 Ivey Award for Gerry Girouard (Artistic Associate)

Chosen among City Pages Best Sets of 2006

Crimes and Whispers, a theatrical dance performance, fuses the acrobatic modern dance choreography of Gerry Girouard, the mastery Tango dancer and Buenos Aires native Florencia Taccetti, and the theatrical imagination of Off-Leash Area, and to tell the story of Argentina’s “disappeared”. This true story about the struggle between power and justice and Argentina’s brutal military Junta from the 1970’s is a universal metaphor for any people faced with an overwhelmingly powerful government who calls for war and patriotism, and a public too afraid to question authority.
